About the book

Embark on a moonlit adventure with The Nocturnal Nine and discover the wonders of the night!

Tonight was an adventure of a different kind, the details and time of departure we were yet to find. We were told to dress warmly and come well-prepared, with our hats and jackets on and binoculars to be shared. A nighttime adventure was about to begin as the colours started to change and dusk set in. The Nocturnal Nine are not your usual crew, in actual fact there are very few. The midnight gang, not afraid of the dark for evening is when they find their spark. Join our adventure as we drive through the game park, looking for these creatures, from the owl to the aardvark

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR

Rachel Grace Nyan

Rachel Grace Nyman is a student at the University of Pretoria, currently completing her degree in Fine Arts.

Rachel was born and raised in Durban, South Africa. She is the eldest of six siblings. Being homeschooled by her mother for the majority of her childhood allowed her the space to develop her creativity and love for illustration and the arts in a very nurturing environment. Rachel chose to complete her school career at Our Lady of Fatima, where she was blessed with the most incredible art teacher who challenged and inspired her in many ways.

Rachel has spent many hours in less privileged communities, where her heart grew in compassion for people, their struggles, and their stories. She dreams of ways to bring hope to these environments through creativity.

Rachel matriculated in 2023, receiving the Gail Baxter Trophy (Top Art Student in her year) and sharing the Humanitarian of the Year Trophy with her twin sister.

Books: The Nocturnal Nine and The Feathered Five.
